By | 2018-08-06T13:10:27+00:00 August 6th, 2018|News|0 Comments

The TCR UK Championship is a new to the UK this year but is also a world wide organisation. Ashley got a call late Wednesday evening by Pyro Motorsport team boss Mark Hunt, who was calling on behalf of Verizon Connect Racing and driver, Finlay Crocker. Unfortunately Finlay had over commitments that weekend so Mark the seat need to be filled and Sutton got the call to fill the seat in the new Honda Civic Type-R. Ashley just managed to make the last session on Friday evening to just familiarise himself with the car as well as the International layout [...]

By | 2018-08-01T19:21:29+00:00 August 1st, 2018|News|0 Comments

This Saturday’s TCR UK races at Oulton Park will see the reigning BTCC champion Ashley Sutton join the grid for the first time following a late switch of drivers. Sutton will replace Finlay Crocker at the wheel of the Verizon Connect Honda Civic Type-R TCR that Crocker has campaigned in every round of this year’s championship. Ash Sutton said: “This weekend will be my first real experience of a TCR car, but I may not be able to attend the test on Friday and so I’ll only have a single half-hour session in the car before Qualifying. As a result, [...]

Mixed emotions at Snetterton

By | 2018-07-30T16:30:22+00:00 July 30th, 2018|Race Reports|0 Comments

Saturday "Its was great to get back out after the summer break. Being completely honest I left the tyre test unsure of how we where going to fare up come qualifying. Conditions weren't great on Saturday and it made it hard to find the sweet spot in the setup but for sure we definitely maxed everything once it came to qualifying. I was very pleased with Q1 putting it P9 for the opening racing on Sunday. However I was a little disappointed with the qualifying for the Diamond Double, this wasn't down to anything myself or the team had done but, [...]

Sutton set for Silverstone Classic

By | 2018-07-20T12:10:10+00:00 July 20th, 2018|News|0 Comments

Ashley is set for the Silverstone Classis on the 21/22 of July. He has been invited to drive David Leslie's Super Tourer 1996 Honda Accord at the famous event by owner Paul Whight. The car is prepared and run by John Danny Motorsport.   "I can't wait to have a taste of such well engineered machinery, back in the day the budgets to run these cars where through the roof. There was no real cap to what you could do so the engineering that went into not just the car but also the engine, these engines are built on a [...]

Back on top, new ‘King of Croft’?

By | 2018-07-20T11:05:17+00:00 July 9th, 2018|Race Reports|0 Comments

“The biggest thing from the weekend was the improvement to the car from what the team has been doing back at base.  The effort from Oulton Park to now has shown in the gains we have made in that short time and the slight boost adjustment is a very small part of that.  It’s very positive having myself and Jason at the sharp end of the grid with strong pace but part of that was due to the fact that we were at a rear wheel drive circuit which made our lives much easier for qualifying and race one with [...]

Thruxton wasn’t kind

By | 2018-05-23T20:48:55+00:00 May 22nd, 2018|Race Reports|0 Comments

Hampshires circuit wasn't so kind to both Team BMR and to Ashley. It is the fast circuit on this seasons calendar which isn't exactly the strongest point at the moment for the Subaru Levorg and its Swindon Powertrain. After setting blistering pace at the Thruxton Test during DMR program it was a different story come race weekend. "I knew the weekend was never going to be plain sailing like the test. For starters you never know how you really stand up in comparison to others. For example, what ballast they are running aswell as their engine performance. The other huge [...]

Fighting at Donington Park

By | 2018-05-10T09:55:54+00:00 April 30th, 2018|Race Reports|0 Comments

Donington was a strong track for us last year regarding the cars cornering performance and it was very much the same this year. Saturday was a little bit of a dramatic day for the team though. Unfortunately, after my first run during FP2 we picked up an engine noise which left the Swindon guys concerned. Both Swindon and the team made a bold decision to change engines before Qualifying, this was always going to be a tough ask in such a short period of time but man its good watching them work as one. I can't thank the boys enough [...]

Brands Hatch was Points Scoring

By | 2018-05-10T09:55:09+00:00 April 9th, 2018|Race Reports|0 Comments

Overall we were punching above our weight this weekend.  We went in with expectations of a top fifteen but to come away with a 7th, 12th and 4th we definitely overachieved.  With the amount of testing we’ve had we’ve certainly got a lot of work to do but I’m confident that the boys back at BMR Headquarters will be doing their bit behind the scenes to get us to where we need to be. "It’s a good start to my campaign to defend the title to be 5th in the Championship and 26 more points ahead of where we were [...]
